There's Always Time to Mug for the Camera

Sawyer makes his small screen debut while he tackles his newest feat: crawling! I had the carpet sweeper out yesterday so Lorne took a mini-movie on the camera while Sawyer followed me around the living room. He must have done at least six laps, back and forth, back and forth, following the allusive sweeper. The best part is when he stops to smile and then goes about his business. I guess all he needed was a little motivation in the form of a household appliance! Who knew? It may take a while to download the footage depending on the connection.

Is anybody watching?

Here are some pictures for those who may not be able to download the movie:

Sawyer enjoys smiling for the camera.

Here's one more glimpse of the grin!

This is the cutest part of the outfit! The carpet sweeper is in front of him.

Sawyer did the cutest thing this morning. I got him out of his high chair after breakfast and he started looking around the corner and smiling at Lorne's recliner. It was so sad to watch his little face sink when he realized that Daddy wasn't there! He is so smart! He also breaks into a grin when I pick him up after his diaper changes in the Pack 'n' Play which is now living in the game room. Sawyer once again looks at his daddy in the recliner and just grins and grins! I can't get enough of those grins.

Speaking of grins, I'm taking him to get his nine-month pictures taken tomorrow. I'm trying to remember all of my tricks to get him to smile so that I can use them tomorrow. I hope that it goes well. His six-month pictures were great and I'm hoping that we have good luck again. I had originally scheduled the session for last Tuesday but he didn't seem to be completely himself yet so I thought I'd wait. I'm glad that I did because he ate us out of house and home this weekend so I think that it's safe to say that he's feeling much better!

I went Friday to get an MMR booster, without anyone holding my hand I might add. I told the nurse how much I hate shots and she still failed to mention that it would sting AND burn until she was already administering it. Thanks a lot lady! I was there because while I was pregnant my OB did blood work and discovered that I needed to get a Rubella booster before I get pregnant again. They offered in the hospital but they gave me a leaflet to read and it warned that it could pass through breastmilk so I didn't want to take a chance. I wish that I had now! I had to go to the Collin County Health Department forty minutes away in McKinney because neither my OB nor my PCP had the vaccine. That was an experience let me tell ya! Not to mention I had to pay $50 for the vaccine AND I have to get another stingy, burning one in thirty days for ANOTHER $50. My friend Denise had hers in the hospital, with no complications, and only had to have one. Someday I will learn to stop worrying so much! I really feel that I would have taken the chance had I known how much it would cost and that I would have to spend half our morning in the health department. Isn't that why I have insurance in the first place?

I called our worthless insurance company this morning and they said that it couldn't be covered because I went out of network. Well, that's because the network people didn't have the vaccine you morons! She said that I could have my PCP file a something-or-other after my something-or-other was denied. I'm not quite sure to be honest since I tuned her out when she told me that "preventive immunizations" aren't covered out of network. Aren't all immunizations considered preventive? Ahhhhhhhhh! I just told the lady that the well-being of my future unborn child will be worth $100, told her to have a nice day, and hung up. What else can I do? I wish we would just change to PPO because the coverage is just horrible sometimes it seems.

OK, I'm through ranting now. Enjoy the show!

Sawyer's Bed and Breakfast

It's pretty quiet around here at Sawyer's Bed and Breakfast these days. No more grandparents, godparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins to gush over the little man. Now he's stuck with his mommy all day. I mean, I love him to death, but I don't think that I am nearly as entertaining and exciting as the members of his fan club!

We're having such a good time with him though. It is as if he can do something new each and every day. He can put a ball into the holes on his Leap Frog Learning Playground and his Fisher-Price Drop & Roar Dinosaur. He can also put the links on his Fisher-Price Rock-a-Stack. Everything is "baa baa baa" these days. He can make a clucking sound and smack his lips. He waves hello but hasn't quite learned that waving bye-bye is accomplished in the same fashion. He seems to be making the sign for "milk" which is done by clenching the fist like milking a cow. It was a great scene in Meet the Fockers actually! He does it at inopportune times so I don't think that he knows what he's doing yet. He usually makes the sign in his high chair. Let's see, what else can he do? Oh yeah, he has learned to sit himself up while lying down. That's a fun trick, especially in his crib. Lowering the crib mattress has now become the top item on Daddy's To Do list this weekend. I was watching him on the TV camera yesterday and he was trying to pull himself up while holding on to the rails. Aaahh! I don't know what I am going to do with an adventurous little boy!

Here are some pictures of our company we've had these last two weeks. Nana and Poppa were here first. They had such a good time with Sawyer! They like to do some shopping while they're here and it was so much easier now that Sawyer is on bottles and baby food. The last time they were here was Thanksgiving and he was still nursing then. We had to stay closer to home.

Sawyer loves his Poppa!

Sawyer, Nana, and his octopus.

They bought him the Leap Frog Learning Band Walker for his nine-month birthday. He is such a spoiled rotten child already! We went all over Dallas trying to find this silly toy. Nana and Poppa finally ordered it online and had it shipped to us. I even called Leap Frog to see if it was still being manufactured. They said that they are having a hard time keeping it in stock...I'll say!

He has fun playing with it. The wheels only move at one speed so he needs someone close by in case it starts to run away without him. He is still learning how his legs work. The back wheels also come off so that he can play with it on the floor. Leap Frog makes such great toys!

Learning to walk is so much fun!

Here's a full view of his newest Leap Frog addition.

Uncle Lester, Aunt Mary, Cristie, Ashley, Erik, and Lexie drove down on Saturday while Larry and Velma were here. Lexie is almost four months old already! We met at Posado's in Plano for lunch and then they all came over to the house. We hung out and even had a Texas Hold 'Em tournament.

It was fun to play poker again. Can you believe that I won?

Lexie and Sawyer enjoying some tummy time.

Mom came to see us a few days later. We were hoping that Dad would be able to fly in but the weather was so bad there that he hadn't been able to work. There was so much snow that they couldn't even get the equipment to where it needed to go. Matthew and Jackie were planning on coming up too but Matthew got called out of town for work so they will have to come up another time. Mom had a great time with Mr. Sawyer. The weather was pretty crummy here too so we just hung out at home. We actually got almost eight inches of rain last weekend.

Mimi said that she would be hearing the Learning Playground music in her head for days to come.

Tammy came and stayed with us Sunday night. She was in town for a friend's baby shower so she came to our house for the evening. We really enjoy having her here with us. She is always inspecting Sawyer's teeth...go figure! He seems to be getting in his incisors on both sides and some on the bottom too. That may have something to do with his stomach problems from last week.

Sawyer loves being up high.

I had a good loss this week at Weight Watchers. I lost 1.6 this week so that makes 31.8 total. Lorne did the math and last time around I averaged about five pounds lost per month because it took me 21 months to lose 122 pounds. Why oh why is it so much slower this time?? I have been at this since Sawyer was eight weeks old! I am staying focused and keeping my nose to the grindstone. I KNOW that it will pay off in the end. All that junk food I ate during my pregnancy isn't sounding so great nine months later. *sigh*

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to try and do things for others. Well I had a great opportunity last week. Sam's Club used to carry these Carb Check Bagel Snack Bars. They were a hit with Weight Watchers' because they're only two points and have eleven grams of fiber and ten grams of protein. For whatever reason they decided to discontinue them in their stores and offer them online only. I had the bright idea that during my Weight Watchers meeting I would offer to place an order. I discovered that the shipping was "cheaper" when more cases were ordered. The bars came seventy-two to a case. I thought if I could order five cases total I could save a few bucks. I mentioned it at my Meeting and ended up ordering TEN cases! They came UPS Monday while Tammy was here. It was pretty crazy to have that many bagel bars in my living room. One woman ordered two cases so I delivered (yes, I even deliver!) them to her Monday on our way home from the airport. One woman is out of town, but we packed up the other six cases last night and it was off to Weight Watchers this morning. My car smelled like apples, raisins, and cinnamon...yum! Luckily all of the ladies were there. Two of them even unloaded the boxes for me while I got Sawyer in his stroller and went and weighed in. I bought an extra case thinking that I would probably be able to sell them. The case of seventy-two is actually packaged with six bags of twelve bars each. I sold those six extra bags in no time. I probably could have bought three extra cases and they would all be gone. Long story short I ended up with free shipping because I sold those individual bags for $6 when I only paid $5.82 and a couple of the ladies gave me a "tip." I sure had fun placing the order, calling all of them to let them know that they had come in, and getting them to the meeting today. I know that I matter and that I am the center of Sawyer's little world, but it was nice to do this for those ladies and really feel appreciated. Now if only I can find the freezer space for my own seventy-two bagel bars!

I'll try not to be a stranger and write again soon!

P.S. How about that Aggie basketball team? What a season! Congrats Ags! Gig 'Em!

It's Just a Fever

I haven't written this week (obviously). Sawyer didn't have a very good day today so I took him to the pediatrician. Apparently it's just a fever and I'm supposed to watch him. His temp was 101.8 and that freaked me out so that's why I brought him to see the ped. I guess that now I'll know to just watch him until it gets to at least 103 and then call, especially since he's older than six months now. I am so afraid of ear infections and I think that's why I mostly wanted the peace of mind. I'm supposed to alternate between Tylenol and Motrin every three hours. I'm hoping that the fever will go away and that he will be feeling better soon. His ears and throat looked fine so we think that it must be his teeth because his gums are really swollen. Poor baby! He's napping now which I normally wouldn't want him to do but I know that he's not himself right now. I don't like for him to not feel well. It makes me hurt too.

I promise that I will try to put on pics later in the week. I want to wait until I have more time to get those out for everyone to enjoy. I know that a lot of people are on Spring Break this week and away from their computers anyway so hopefully Sawyer's adoring public will understand. :)

Sawyer is Nine Months Old!

Just a quick note today about our little man. We went to the ped today and he weighs 20 lbs 6 ounces and is 28 3/4 inches long. He is now in the 75th percentile for length (up from the 25th), still in the 50th for his weight, and he has moved from the 10th percentile for head circumference to the 50th. He is one growing little boy!

I FINALLY got her to give me a prescription for the yeast diaper rash so we'll keep our fingers crossed that this will work. He has had it since December so let's hope that this combined with some Cortaid ointment will do the trick.

It is becoming more and more challenging to get these bear pictures. In no time he is either eating, rolling over, or ignoring the bear. What a fun age this is!

Thanks to Shawn and Kelly for the cute A&M romper!

He was reaching for the carpet sweeper again in this photo. He LOVES that thing!

I took this as a sign that he was tired of taking pictures.

Hanging Out With Daddy

I have a few Sawyer pictures to share today from bath night the other evening. Lorne has the job of getting Sawyer "naked" while I get his bath water ready. Lorne yells, "Naked, naked, naked," and blows raspberries on Sawyer's belly and neck. It absolutely cracks Sawyer up. He really enjoys his time with his daddy.

He is so much fun to watch when Lorne comes home. As soon as I hear the raising of the garage door I ask Sawyer, "Where's Daddy?" He starts to look around and completely lights up when Lorne walks into the living room. What a great way to come home! It just shows that he is becoming more and more aware of the world around him everyday.

He LOVES neck sugars!

I thought the way Sawyer has his chubby little hand on Lorne's check is too cute.

It melts my heart to see my two favorite guys smiling!

He sure loves to show us his tongue!

I'm trying not to write much today because I need to get off my rear and get the house cleaned. Larry and Velma will be here Wednesday night until Sunday. Mom is planning on driving up Wednesday of next week. Matthew and Jackie are also coming some time next week. Tammy will be staying Sunday night with us after Mom, Matthew, and Jackie return home. She'll be here for a baby shower. I'm looking forward to having all the company. I just need to get organized around here and get everything cleaned so that I can enjoy the time we'll have with everyone.

Spring is in the Air

I was going to save these pictures for Monday's post but I just couldn't wait. I thought that he looked so cute in his romper that I had to snap some shots. It has really warmed up around here. It was 93 yesterday and that broke a record from 1899. It's been quite a winter up here I must say!

He started doing this crazy up-on-his-toes thing a few days ago. I think he's exploring every possible non-crawling scenario before he does the "real" thing. He can definitely get to where he needs to go though that's for sure!

There's always time for pushups! This one's for you Court!

Break time!

This is my favorite picture of the day! I got him to smile by running my carpet sweeper. He loves when I put him on the floor and sweep around him. He'll probably be terrified of it in a few months but for right now it's heaven on Earth.

I got this smile when I started singing "Bingo." He loves that song!

I think he has inherited his momma's thunder thighs! I must say he wears them better than me though! Don't ya just want to squeeze them? I'm talking about Sawyer's of course! :)
