Sawyer's Nativity

Sawyer and I were at Super Wal-Mart Monday and I came across this Fisher-Price Little People Nativity Set. I thought that it was the cutest idea because now Sawyer will have a nativity that will be okay to touch. We're trying to start his Christmas decoration addiction early. It will also be neat because we'll store it with all of our other decorations so it will be like he has a new toy each year.

Lorne and I are already lamenting over how we just can't put out all of our pretty and breakable Christmas decorations this year. I just keep reminding myself that Sawyer will only be little once and there will soon come a Christmas when we can put it all out again. Lorne will for sure put up my village because it goes up high on the entertainment center, and I have to find a safe place for our nativity, but we're not too sure about everything else. I'm sure that the mirror ball will make its annual appearance since it's on the ceiling. :) Lorne and his dad did the outside lights this past weekend and those look wonderful. Our neighborhood is doing a Christmas lights contest this year and it would be nice to at least be nominated since Lorne works so hard on them each year.

Daddy couldn't get the pieces free quickly enough.

Of course the box is always a fun toy.

It's so much fun to play with Daddy!

Such concentration!

It really is the cutest little toy! The manger lights up and plays "Away in a Manger."

I am so excited to say that I am finished with my Christmas shopping! I'm not even quite sure how it happened this soon. I think that it was because I made my list earlier this year and tried to get organized. Larry and Velma took the bulk of the gifts home with them on Sunday so that will allow us more room when we travel at Christmas. Half of the Tahoe is usually taken up with Sawyer's stuff and Rosie's crate. Last year I had everything shipped to Van Vleck, but that didn't work out so well and plus I spent about $70 in shipping so I decided that just wasn't worth it this year.

Happy shopping everyone!

Where is Sawyer's Belly Button?

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted! Alas, I was still in my twenties the last time that I posted to Blogger.com. I guess being in my thirties hasn't been too bad, but I do miss the twenties already!

We had a very productive weekend around here. Lorne did all of the work and I supervised, but things were accomplished all the same. We got a storage unit and cleared out the guest bedroom since it is becoming the baby girl's room. The storage space is coming in very handy since we're adding another member to the family. We also chose a crib set which is appropriately titled Ruffles (pictured below), so now we can decide how we're going to decorate her little corner of the world. I have been so pleased with how Sawyer's room turned out and I hope that we can do the same for the little girl. We went and got a toddler bed and softer mattress for Sawyer on Saturday. We're going to begin the transition by changing out his crib mattress to the softer one and putting the toddler bed in his room next to his crib so that he can check it out. Lorne will have to do some babyproofing in Sawyer's room before we can set him free in his own bed though.

Based on what is shown here I'm wanting the dust ruffle, bumper pad, lamp, mobile, and valance. We haven't decided if we're doing the border and/or wall hangings yet.

We went to my friend Laura's son Logan's first birthday party on Saturday. It was fun. I was so bummed because I forgot my camera and someone had already gotten him the present that I got him. Laura assured me that she didn't mind doing the exchange for another toy. Sawyer was into everything. He loved the birthday cake. He even went up to another mom and made the more sign to her while she was eating her cake since we had run out. I guess he wasn't quite ready to stop!

Here are some pictures from before bathtime the other night. Sawyer discovers his belly button and it is hilarious! It's funny because that thing has been there for the past seventeen months, but for some reason it captivated him this particular night.

He just has his finger stuck in his belly button in this shot.

He's really getting up close and personal in this one.

This one is my favorite because he's squeezing his belly.

Closing with a close-up.

Sawyer is Seventeen Months Old!

Where does the time go? Sawyer is seventeen months old today! He is trying to talk more I think. He is saying up and done/gone. It's kind of unclear as to which one he's saying at any particular time. He kind of uses them interchangeably. His climbing skills are also greatly improving, much to my chagrin.

Here are his latest pictures. He's in shorts and a T-shirt because it feels like summer around here. Luckily we're getting some cold weather this weekend.

I think that he looks like me when he does this cheesy grin.

One more smile...

Unfortunately I couldn't get him to smile while the bear was in the picture.

Laura and Logan came over for a playdate on Monday. Logan will be one year old tomorrow, but he is already wearing the same size as Sawyer. He is a big boy! He has also been walking for about six weeks now. It is so much fun to watch them together!

Laura and I had a time trying to get them to both look at the camera.

Hundreds of dollars worth of toys and kids always want the other kids' toy. Sawyer did the same thing to Logan.

Put Me in the Zoo

Sawyer was an elephant for Halloween this year. He actually stayed in his costume for over three hours. It was very humorous to Lorne and I because he was just going about his regular evening, not even realizing that he looked like an elephant. The hood part would occasionally get into his eyes and he would pull on it, but other than that he did great. It was so cute! We didn't have nearly as many trick-or-treaters this year, probably because the temperature was in the low 50's. Needless to say, Lorne took a truckload of candy with him to work yesterday.

Lorne wasn't too sure about my costume choice, but once he saw Sawyer in it he was sold.

Sawyer had fun playing in the backyard.

He was nice and toasty in his costume with the built-in hood.

Here is a side view with the tail.

The hood started to bother him after a while. I would take it off and put it back on when the doorbell rang.
