And Lorne said, "Where's my Ambien?"

Hello from Presbyterian Hospital of Plano! I thought I'd give everyone an update of how the day has gone. I got about four hours of sleep last night because I was so keyed up about today. I got up at 6:00 with Lorne. He worked half a day. I spent the morning cleaning and doing laundry. I went at 10:00 and had a pedicure. I normally feel pretty uncomfortable during them but today I wanted to relax. Plus I tried to polish them myself yesterday and that was a disaster. I told the lady who did mine that I needed professional help. My nurse even commented on how pretty my toes are! I met Lorne at Blue Goose for one more plate of sour cream chicken enchiladas. Yum! Mom and Dad got to our house at 2:00 and we visited until about 4:15 when Lorne and I headed for the hospital. I got checked in and Dr. Watts started the Cervidil at 6:30. I had to stay in bed until 8:30. That's been the toughest part so far because I wasn't able to get up and move around. I have a monitor for the baby's heartbeat and a monitor for the contractions on my belly and a blood pressure cuff on my arm. It automatically takes a measurement depending on when they have it do so. My blood pressure was really elevated when we got here and it went up even more when Dr. Watts came in so I was kind of worried, but it went down once the Cervidil was in place and I was feeling more relaxed. The monitors are attached to a computer screen which is pretty cool. I haven't decided how I feel about being able to see the contractions in graph form, but the sound of the baby's heartbeat is like music to my ears.

Conrad and Judi stopped by and brought the prettiest flowers. Lorne and Conrad work together and they live about a minute away so it was nice to see them. Larry and Velma got to our house around 8:00 and then Mom, Larry, and Velma came by the hospital. Mom stayed with me while Lorne, Larry, and Velma went to Razzoo's for dinner (sorry Mark :)). I'm settled in for bed now. I just took 5 mg of Ambien which my doctor prescribed to help me sleep. I figure that I'll need it. We have a LOOOONG day ahead of us. They'll wake me up at 6:00 to remove the Cervidil and let me shower and then break my waters and Pitocin at 8:00. Right now I can have juice and jello but it's ice chip city from midnight until the baby makes his arrival. That's a-okay with me because I had such a yummy lunch.

Lorne here. Kelly had to turn over in the bed; our man isn't too happy about something and he's moving around a lot. The nurse said it could just be from being in one position too long so we're going to try to other side for a while. Kelly can't quite reach the computer from that side so she said I had to write the closing and come up with a snappy title. That's pretty funny since I always got her to write my closing paragraphs for any papers I had to write while we were in college. I guess it's true: what goes around comes around.
