He's His Father's Child Already
Cervix alert: You've been warned!
We went to the doctor this morning and NOTHING. No dilation (other than the same 1 cm), no dropping. I've decided that he's for sure like his daddy and he's just a laid back little fart! :) Dr. Watts said that she wanted me to come back for a sonogram so that she could get a size estimate. She said that if he's a nine pound baby then his not dropping may be a matter of him not fitting due to his size. She mentioned the possibility of a C-section and I'll be honest; I didn't hear much after that because I am pretty adamant that I want to try for a vaginal birth. I was pretty upset but I calmed down once I called Mom and we talked about it.
I'd already planned to have lunch with Laura and Denise today because it's Laura's birthday so I met them at Chili's. After lunch we went to Denise's to see her nursery and to have birthday cake. We had a fun time.
Luckily the sonographer was in the office this afternoon so we went back at 2:30. His weight can be off a pound either way, but it showed him at 7 lbs 10 ozs which is what I weighed. With that being known she asked us what we wanted to do. I told her that I want to try for the vaginal birth. Actually Lorne told her that I feel really strongly about it even though I wasn't saying so. It's a good thing he was there. Dr. Watts said she would call Presbyterian and schedule a cervix ripening for Thursday. She finally called me at 6:30 this evening and said she couldn't get me in Thursday but that they had an opening for TOMORROW at 5:00!! Yea! Then Lorne and I were like chickens with our heads cut off. I made calls to our parents letting them know of the change so that they could plan accordingly. I'm having to move all my chores up a day so that I can do as much as possible before we leave for the hospital tomorrow afternoon since we'll be spending an extra night now. Lorne's working half a day and then we'll leave here around 4:15 to beat the traffic. I asked her about what to expect for tomorrow, and she said that the real labor wouldn't be until Thursday and that tomorrow she's just trying to get me to 3-4 cm. Keep your fingers crossed that it will work. She said we'll give it twelve hours and then start Pitocin if needed Thursday morning. The hope is that the contractions and dilation get him to drop and labor will continue on its own. Either way it looks like we'll be parents on Thursday! We're bringing the laptop to the hospital so either Lorne or I will try to keep in touch!! Thanks to everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers!
